President Uhuru Kenyatta in his second term of leadership has started with massive project construction of Thiba Dam at Kirinyaga county,Central Kenya which worth around $ 190million .This project will be based on boosting irrigation of rice in Mwean irrigation scheme as he address this project, he reminded his citizens that during his election campaign food security was one of their agenda and hence they put this project into full function as they fulfill their jubilee agenda. This project will enable farmers to have two seasons of production and hence eradicate food insecurities in Kenya.According to President the project will take three years to be completed and will employ more than 100 people that will increase rice productivity to about 160 tonnes annually.Apart from that this project will rise the revenues from $45milion to
$86 million annually.
This project is financed my other stakeholders such
as
Japanese government through Japan International Cooperation Agency
(JICA).Aapart from that government is expected to construct 57 dams
across the country so as to control food food insecurity in their
country.It is a good start as far as leadership is concerned.
