TANZANIA: Bagamoyo Port Project

The minister of Industry , Trade and Investment, Mr. Charles Mwijage is finalizing the negotiation with China and Oman over the construction Special economic Zone (SEZ) and Bagamoyo Port .H e hopes by  January   next year the project will start and in 2022 the project will be completed.Upon completion of Special economic Zone, this project will attracts more than 500 factories and makes the potential  area along east Africa and become the largest port and economic zone for east Africa countries.This port will be able to megaship that carrying 8000,of 20 feet which is equivalent to one unit container.
Bagamoyo port designed so as to serve old port that is challenged by high congestion and sometimes incapacity to hold larger vessels.The project is about to be financed by China Merchant Holdings International (CMHI) and Oman's State General Reserve Fund. whereby about $10 billion will be used for construction of special economic zone.
