EITHOPIA: ADDIS ABABA

Addis Ababa is the capital city of the Eithopia apart from being  the headquarter of the Africa Union(A.U) which formerly know as O.A.U established in 1963 25 may under Haile Selassie I  .Eithopia is termed as the promised land especially for the Rastafian Believers, especially when announced by the Flame even before 1967.

 The name Addis Ababa means “New flower” in Amharic (Amharic: አዲስ አበባ),this name comes after Queen Tatyu Betul( King Menerik  11) wife and hence led planting of large Eucalyptus trees which till today are visible around Addis Ababa streets.
 During colonial era 1890s the city was name as Entonto. In 1906 it was reclaimed as Addis Ababa. But before being called again Addis Ababa, this city was called Adis Alem, "the New World".
The first railway was built in 1917 which was from Djibouti. 

In 1930, Addis Ababa was highly populated city that attract Dictator Benito Musolin's dictator to invade Ethiopia that led to war in 1936 with Emperor Haile Selassie (Amharic: ቀዳማዊ ዓፄ ኃይለ ሥላሴ). Italians were beaten until they surrender  returned to Italy.The reasons for the war were many but the bigger ones that stir the war was the removal of the monument to the Lion of Judah (Emperor symbol) 1936 which had been brought back in 1941. 

In 1974 Ethiopia passed through the government of Haile Sillasie and the entry of the government of Mengtsu Haille Mariam. The revolution produced a dramatic change in the city of Adis Ababa.
