KENYA: New port to constructed in Kisumu city
Kenyan government has started another project that is Port construction in Kisumu region so as to serve Uganda and Tanzania so as to boost standard gauge railway.This port is expected to Eastern and Central African Region in terms of business hence economic integration and growth among the countries.Apart from that the standard gauge is planned to be extended to Kampala and Kigali that will able to carry 25 million tonnes per year, and hence more trade links will open and jobs opportunities among the countries involved in this projects.
The economic growth is estimated by many factors , one of it is the transport system. According to world economy 2017, Kenya is ranked as third sub-Saharan Africa ease of doing business due to well established transport system and its management. So many projects has been established to open trade links among the neighborliness countries so as to facilitate easy trade such as Lamu Port-South Sudan-Ethiopia Transport (LAPSSET) corridor project with development of rail infrastructure.
