TANZANIA: Tobacco Price crisis

Tanzania tobacco producers has been in another crisis as market is unpredictable,government is trying much to fetch buyers but still buyers are at lower offer,potential buyer offer to pay $ 1.35 per kg, while government want  $1.75 per kg.Most of tobacco producers are stiff struggles on how they can secure their tobacco as there is no suitable market for their produce.
The chairman of the co-operative, Fulgence Erasto, said that, with ongoing rain, the tobacco had started accumulating moisture and rotting.
“Look, this tobacco is no longer suitable for the market,” he said.
“This is a loss to the farmers.”The tobacco was grown by members of the Amahoro Tobacco Primary Co-operative Society at Ulyankulu in the Tabora Region.
