UGANDA: Child Protection Specialist at UNICEF, Kampala, Uganda


United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Child Protection Specialist in Kampala, Uganda.

Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Child Protection Specialist will perform the following functions-
  • Provide technical leadership to the development and implementation of the child protection in emergency (CPiE) interventions for South Sudanese, DRC and Burundi refugee children.
  • Program management, monitoring and delivery of results on CPiE against the programme targets and indicators. Prepare periodic reports on the CPiE activities and share them with colleagues from Kampala and UNICEF Zone office.
  • Contribute actively to the development of Programme documents for enhancing the partnership between UNICEF and CSOs.
  • Networking and partnership building and co-chair the Child protection working group with UNHCR Kampala.
  • Innovation, knowledge management and capacity building.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
  • An Advanced University degree in international development, human rights, psychology, sociology, international law and other social science field is required.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in Child Protection planning, reporting and management which includes relevant experience in Child Protection in Emergency in UNICEF or in UNHCR is required.
  • Working experience as a chair or co-chair of a Child Protection in Emergency working group or cluster is an asset.
  • Developing country work experience and familiarity with emergency is considered an asset.
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
